About Mark Morley-Fletcher

We’ll let this page be whatever it wants to be. I don’t know what that is yet — so it may change an awful lot as I go through the process of finding out…

I started out studying theoretical Physics. Left that after completing my PhD to do Operational Research for the UK Government. Lived in London for a decade as a result.

Quit all that in 2016 with no idea what I’d do next and moved up to Edinburgh. Then set up my own business pretty much by accident — teaching musicians online (as a direct result of going on a tennis course. Go figure)

I’m still nowhere near the “answer” (if there is such a thing) of what to do with my life. So this website is part of the process of trying to figure it out. Sitting around theorising wasn’t getting me anywhere — so I figured I might as well do stuff instead and see what happens.

And, above all, I hope this journey will be fun! Because — although I have no particular desire to “be a writer” — it turns out that I do enjoy writing. There seems to be something drawing me to it. I’m always reading books — both fiction and non-fiction. My ears always prick up when I hear writing tips. And I’m always checking out other writers’ approaches, routines, etc etc.

I aspire to be: creative, learning, playful, unapologetic, ruthless, bold, intentional, and patient. On a good day I reckon I come pretty close.

Finally, here’s an obligatory photo of me. Because that’s what you do on these pages, isn’t it?
